Rules

USAWP Playing Rules and the Conduct of Championships govern the Swim Outlet.com Junior Olympics, subject to these guidelines:

Rosters:

Each coach should confirm the team roster at the Official Table thirty (30) minutes prior to each game.

Cap Color:

First team listed wears white caps and starts the game sitting on the bench to the left of the Official Table. Teams shall switch ends at half time.

Warm up:

A team shall receive a minimum of five (5) minutes in front of the game goals immediately prior to the start of their game.

Red Cards:

A participant who receives a red card shall not participate in the team’s next game in that division, and until the suspension is served, shall not participate with any team in any division.

Brutality/Violence:

A participant penalized for a violation of Rule 21.11 of USA Water Polo Rules (brutality/violence) shall not participate in the team’s next game in that division, and until the suspension is served, shall not participate with any team in any division, and may be subject to additional punishment by action of the Championship Finals Management Committee.

Breaking Ties:

All games shall be played to a decision…with a definite winner. Should the scores be level at full time in any game, there shall be a shoot out to determine the result.

The following point system shall be used for advancement purposes:

Shoot out – team that wins in a shoot out is given one extra goal (+1) for winning the shoot out for purposes of advancement.   (e.g. if game is tied at 5-5, team winning the shoot out will have a score of 6-5 for advancement purposes)

Three way ties – follow FINA rules as outlined in USA WP Playing rules with the following modification:

If three or more teams shall have equal points, further classification shall be established as follows:

The results of among the tied teams shall determine the placing. The comparison shall be made upon

  • first the points of the games among them
  • next, the goal difference
  • and next, based upon goals allowed

Protests:

The referees shall write each game’s ending time on the score sheet. To protest a misapplication of the rules in a game a head coach must:

  1. 1.do so within thirty (30) minutes of its ending time
  2. 2.pay a one hundred dollar ($100) cash Protest Fee to the Site Director, who notes it on the back of the original score sheet.
  3. 3.Describe the event and nature of the protest in writing, using the Protest Form or on the back of the original score sheet using the Form’s identical format.

The Site Director shall notify the lead referee at the game site, or in his/her absence, the event’s head referee(s), who may rule on the protest (subject to review) and shall notify the Championship Finals Management Committee of the protest and any action.

If an adverse condition or circumstance is known prior to the start of a game, a written protest along with the one hundred dollar ($100) Protest Fee must be lodged with the Site Director before the signal to start the game is given, at which point the Head Referee will notify the non-protesting coach. Teams will proceed with the game at the scheduled time.
